If you answered yes to all of the questions above, then you should know Congressional Country Club is seeking a seasonal Greens & Grounds Intern. The seasonal Greens & Grounds Intern will be responsible for safely operating specialized equipment and performing specific tasks relative to the general maintenance of the golf course grounds.

Congressional Country Club is looking for Team Members that believe the impossible is possible. Who are driven to continuously make a positive impact on the organization and believe that as a team we can accomplish more. Congressional Country Club is also passionate about growing and developing others so that we may promote from within.

What will be expected of you:

  • Walk-mow greens, tees, approaches and collars
  • Flymo and/or rotary mow steep bank, bunker faces and small turf areas
  • Edge cart paths sprinkler heads, bunkers, etc.
  • Roll greens
  • Calibrate application equipment and apply fertilizer, fungicide, herbicide and insecticides to turf areas
  • Mattaway rough with seeder box
  • Repair ball marks and fill divots
  • Cut and lay sod
  • Hand rake bunkers
  • Hand topdress
  • Hand water green, tees, approaches and fairways
  • Operate sump pump, pressure washer, blowers (such as push, backpack and handheld) and other hand tools
  • Operate Club cars and a "walk behind" rototiller
  • Maintain logs for the operation, maintenance and gas usage of each machine
  • Inspect all machines (befor, during and after use) and report deficiencies to the Equipment Technician or Manager
  • Clean machinery and fuel equipment after each use
  • Follow guidelines as outlined in the Golf Course Management System (GCMS) Manual
  • Perform other functions and maintenance activities as directed by the Golf Course Superintendents, Assistant Golf Course Superintendents, Equipment Manager, Landscape Foreman, Irrigation Foreman and Application Specialist
  • Complete the Equipment Operator I Training Program within two weeks of selection

Ideal Candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Enrolled in an accredited 2 or 4-year college turf program
  • Working knowledge of golf course operations & turf management
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to use logical or scientific thinking to solve problems
  • Ability to work independently to carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to visually inspect golf course conditions and clubhouse grounds
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work.
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills
